Today marks another life milestone

The date today is October 21, 2015 and it marks another milestone in my personal journey as I have been awarded a Second Class Honours in my Certificate of Legal Practice (CLP) Examinations by University of Malaya. The results has been announced by the Malaysian Legal Profession Qualifying Board and it has not sinked in. I could not believe it and tears of joy are rolling down my cheeks. It has been a lonely and difficult journey but truly remarkable experience. The past 18 months had taught me that success does not happen overnight but hard work, perseverance and faith will get you there. Dream big, act on it and faith will get you there!

A blink of an eye and 2015 is coming to an end

Time flies! The last time i blogged was about 5 years ago. I could not believe that it has been truly busy and remarkable 5 years. I gave birth to a beautiful girl, went on to obtain my law degree (LLB), got promoted to head the Risk Management function of a public listed company and one of Sarawak's leading property development and construction company. Then there was also the life changing decision I made in 2014 where I decided to hang my suits permanently to pursue my passion in Law full time. Some said I was crazy to leave a high paying job and gamble my career for an unknown risk. I was adamant irregardless of the uncertainties and the unsolicited advice from the naysayers. Looking back, I always tell myself I did not want to regret for not pursuing my dream.

I love Christmas

It's December 18th today and Christmas is just around the corner. Haven't been updating my blog for the past weeks cos there have been too many happenings, baby bumps and cravings, pregnancy blues, travellings, deadlines at work as we are near the year end etc. No matter how busy and despite all the deadlines and mood swings, I have always love the year end as the Christmas mood kicks in. It screams it's time for a little self indulgence and pampering not forgetting this is also the time when I always hit the malls with lil' Allister. It's a great bonding time. He gets so fascinated by all the wonderful christmas decorations and lightings and everytime the little boy would tell mommy, "I want to see the big Xmas trees or the Snowman or the Santa Claus".

Today's trip to the mall was no different. Mommy and Allister indulged in some retail therapy and followed by brunch. The little boy had some walnut brownies, mushroom soup and a vanilla milkshake at Secret Recipe when I stopped by to make an order a cake for his 3rd's birthday next Thursday. We settled for Chocolate Indulgence and a Ben 10 picture on top of his cake.(He loves Ben10 so much).

Like Allister, I have always love Christmas cos this is the time of the year when I kick back
and relax and indulge in some little pampering. Christmas shopping is always so fun because
it's the time of the year when you get the best buys and great bargains. These are my loots
from out trip to the malls today;Christian Dior's J'adore perfumes (I love this the most)and some creams from Clinique like the super light moisturising gel, the amazing Turnaround Skin Renewal and the moisture surge and the bonus of course, the gifts like mascara, body cream, repairwear contour, eye cream and the sunblock. Hah nice!! I've got the pics ready but I seem to have problem uploading the pics of my loots from today's trip. Perhaps later, I'll try to upload again.

Till then, merry Xmas & happy shopping!

Bump & Cravings

4th November 2010

Bumps, burping, flat shoes, big appetite (I literally have 5 to 6 meals a day). The signs and symptoms. Apparently I couldn't fit into any of the working clothes, jeans or anything now. It's growing. Last Saturday's trip to the mall searching for new attires was futile. Most of these shops have closed down in Kuching. Perhaps it's time to hit the malls again this Saturday otherwise I might have to end up with wearing maxi to work (nope, I can't imagine myself in that, so not me). To start off, I'm not that girlish, yes I was pretty sporty when I was in my teens and yep I like everything about vanity but wearing a maxi to work is probably too much. So wish me luck in my next hunt for plus size attires.

About feeling good

3 November 2010

Well, talking about feeling good, Mike darling & I made some contributions for good cause yesterday. Honestly it was by far the largest amount of personal contribution that I have made in my 31 years for some good cause considering that most of my money earned is spent on shopping and going into the pockets of the rich merchants at the Spring shopping mall and fancy restaurants. The feeling after making the contribution? Good, period. It was indescribable feeling. Friends and siblings who have known me would have known that I normally question everything and anything when it comes to forking out money from my pocket, well except anything to do with retail therapy and food but this time, I'm very glad that all this was done anonymously and without hesitation but with a big, care and conscience. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to brag that I'm a very charitable person or anything like that. I just thought of sharing my experience with you on doing something I have never done before and how this actually made me feel so good. It is something which most of us do not realise that as we grow older, we have 2 hands, one for helping ourselves and the other for helping others and I'm glad that I just did that. Every little contributions counts, every little money that goes for a good cause will never go unnoticed by Buddha and this is one principle that I hold very dear to my heart.

Saturday Morning

It's Saturday morning. As usual I headed for breakie with hubby at our favourite kopitiam famous for its roasted duck noodle and then my hubby is off to office. I just had my meditation session awhile ago, in fact I had one early in the morning before the sun rise. After the meditation, it was time for some retail therapy. Well once a woman, always one. It's hard to beat that urge for shopping. Yeah and after getting what I want, it was time to head for some good coffee. Where else? Yeah you guess it, Starbucks!!! And now I'm enjoying my cuppa of hot latte while doing some law reading. I love my Saturday morning, don't you?

Meanwhile, I'm gonna start thinking of continuing with my Part 3 on Rinpoche's visit to Kuching. Perhaps in my next update I hope!
Since I have forgotten my USB cable to transfer my pic of my cuppa,
I'll make do with this and upload my cuppa when i get home.

H.E. Dungyud Tulku Rinpoche's visit to Kuching from 3-17 August 2010 (Part II)

Over the next two days, H.E Dungyud Tulku Rinpoche carried out the spiritual sessions like the one we attended yesterday (August 7th). Mike and I joined the evening sessions as we were working during daytime. As usual, Rinpoche and the lamas continued to chant the Buddhist sutras followed by some dharma talks, meditation and some blessings puja before they ended the session.

August 9, 2010 - It was the 3rd day of the spiritual ceremony. It was the usual chanting of Buddhist sutras, dharma talks, meditation and the blessing pujas. This time around, I brought Allister along to attend the blessing puja by Rinpoche. The blessing pujas on the 3rd day was a little bit different from the first 2 days of the ceremony. Rinpoche and the lamas was seen circling the small mandala stage next to the main stage while chanting the sutras, the youngest lama was seen sprinking flowers water to the mandala stage. Later the two younger lamas was seen sweeping the mandala sands on the stage to the bucket while Rinpoche continued to chant the sutras.

The sacred mandala or sand offering designed and created by the lamas few days ago before the start of  the spiritual ceremony and on the third day, the lamas swept (with hands of course) the mandala or sand into the bucket and was later given away to everyone in small little packets

was later given away to everyone at the end of the blessing puja

Rinpoche and the lamas later proceeded to the shrine where the Buddha and Green Tara posters were hung and where the sacred tormas were placed and continued to chant the sutras.

H.E. Dungyud Tulku Rinpoche chanted sutras in front of the Buddha and Green Tara shrine
where the tormas that represent the tantric deities were placed.

After that, as Rinpoche and the lamas proceeded onto the stage and as Rinpoche sat on high chair on the stage, everyone of us in the hall were told to stand up and circled the hall (I lost count how many times we circled the hall but I remember it was a lot of times) as we chant the Great Compassion Buddhist sutra. Thereafter, we proceeded to the stage to receive blessings from Rinpoche. As Allister and I reached the stage, we knelt down in front of Rinpoche while Rinpoche puts some of the mandala sand on top of head while chanting some sutras in Sanskrit. One of the lamas later passed us some red threads and I asked Rinpoche to bless Allister's Buddha pendant which he happily agreed. He also gave us the mandala sand in small little packets.

on the 3rd day of the spiritual ceremony

Everyone has their turns  to receive the blessings from Rinpoche and by the time Rinpoche completed the blessings puja, it was near midnight. According to uncle James, the sacred mandala was the climax of the 3 days blessings puja by H.E Dungyud Tulku Rinpoche. We were indeed the priviledged lots to receive the blessings directly from H.E. Dungyud Tulku Rinpoche. Too bad mom was not there as she went for her usual Taichi class. I was glad that later I managed to get a packet of the mandala for mom. In Tibetan Buddhism, the mandala is envisaged as a sacred space, a pure Buddha realm, a place of Nirvana and peace and is regarded as one of the greatest protection from "samsara".

At the end of the session, the committees had their group photo taken with Rinpoche and the lamas. Mike and I took the opportunity to also snap some pics with Rinpoche and the lamas (I look terribly ugly in the pics but heck, it's not all the time I get to take pictures with H.E Dungyud Tulku Rinpoche and so I reluctantly exposed my "natural" look without the make up in these pics).

Mike and I went home very happy that night as we got to talk and took pictures personally with H.E Dungyud Tulku Rinpoche. It was perhaps one of the most memorable experience I ever had in my journey for spiritual wellbeing.
